Case Eastern Finland
Päivämäärä: 03.06.2026
Kellonaika: 09:00
Osoite: Square de Meeûs 1, 1000 Brussels, Belgium
The European House of Municipalities

The green transition requires concrete and scalable solutions that integrate biodiversity, economic sustainability, regional development, and security perspectives. In Eastern Finland, regional development work is carried out within a comprehensive security framework, where issues related to nature, climate, vitality, and resilience are closely interconnected.
Nature-positive regional development is increasingly also a European resilience and security issue, contributing to sustainable security and welfare.
The event will bring together actors from regional administration, regional development, research, and the business sector to discuss:
- how regions can accelerate nature-positive growth,
- how companies can integrate biodiversity as part of competitive business,
- and how the green transition can strengthen resilience, comprehensive security, and regional vitality.
At the same time, the aim is to build new European cooperation networks and find partners for interregional collaboration, knowledge exchange, and joint development initiatives to promote a nature-positive economy.
The programme will feature perspectives on regional development work, research, and business practices in Eastern Finland, followed by a moderated discussion. There will also be space for open dialogue.
The event is organised by Economic Development Centre of Eastern Finland, Savonia University of Applied Sciences and University of Eastern Finland, together with partners, as part of the EU Green Week 2026 programme.
We warmly welcome you to join the discussion and to build cooperation with us.
