Diverse nature, beautiful scenery, and a clean environment makes Pohjois-Savo region an excellent place to visit and have a good time. Pohjois-Savo has on excellent location in the middle of Finnish Lakeland area. The region offers variety of activities. Visitor can pick activities like golf, fishing, boating and picking berries, variety sporting activities and events, music events and many other. Over winter you can go skiing, ice-skating on Kallavesi ice, or winter fishing. There are over 31 000 summer cottages in Pohjois-Savo. Most of them, of course, located by lake.

If you want to spend your time in shopping and museums, Kuopio is the place to go. One of the most interesting sights in the city centre is RIISA - the Orthodox Church Museum of Finland. You can also hop on board one of the many local cruise ships at Kuopio harbour which is newly renowated and equiped. Inner lake ships cruises on summertimes over beautiful Lake Kallavesi, where you can see fascinating nature, and charming small islands with Finnish cottages. Tahko mountain – biggest tourist resort in Pohjois-Savo, about 50 km’s from Kuopio city center, is the main tourist attractions in the region. There visitors can choose from variety activities such as spa, padel, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, and nature activities, like biking and hiking. In summertime, you can play golf on two high quality golf courses. If you seek adventure and speed, ATVs and water scooters could be your thing.

Sport & Spa Hotel Vesileppis in Leppävirta has large underground cross-country skiing arena. In there you can also visit in Ice Moomin land. Leppävirta and Spa-hotel Vesileppis are well known as other sporting activities too.

Pohjois-Savo has two excellent natural parks, Etelä-Konnevesi – and Tiilikkajärvi natural park. They both have beautiful sceneries, clean and bright lakes, lots of routes to go and possibilities to have good time in the nature. Tiilikkajärvi will grow soon much bigger than it is now.
