Pohjois-Savo is a Finnish region of great natural beauty with a strong economy and a population of approximately 249,000.

The Regional Council of Pohjois-Savo furthers the region's development
The Regional Council of Pohjois-Savo works to benefit the region and its inhabitants. As an organization that brings together the member municipalities, the council is engaged in development, planning, research and protecting the interests of the region.
As the regional development authority in Pohjois-Savo, the Regional Council is responsible for the general development of the region. To this end, the Council defines the development goals and the ways to achieve them.
As the regional planning authority under the Finnish Building Act, the Regional Council of Pohjois-Savo draws up the regional plan and supervises that the plan is implemented in structural, land-use and environmental planning of the municipalities in the region.
